Digital health tools allow providers, patients, and community institutions to maintain close contact and share data in new more timely ways, enabling less expensive and more effective treatment paradigms. This feature is particularly important in the current climate, whereby specialty services are regionalized, and many under-served communities do not have nearby access to necessary healthcare services. Telehealth has potential to overcome these barriers that contribute to healthcare access inequities.
In this Science Café, Dr. Elder will discuss his efforts to create a regional digital public health platform to improve access to and continuity of care for vulnerable populations in the Sacramento area, northern California region and beyond.
